Tapping into new skills for the future
In late May, the Naval Shipbuilding College (NSC), South Metropolitan TAFE and our industry partners celebrated an exciting milestone – the graduation of the first cohort in the NSC’s Trade Assistant Program (TAP)!
TAP is focused on sourcing, training and employing the next generation of tradespeople for Australia’s Naval Shipbuilding Industry.
The candidates harnessed this fantastic opportunity to kick start their career as a trade assistant, completing six courses during the two-week program including; working safely in the construction industry, forklift licence accreditation, check and assess operational capabilities of equipment, enter and work in confined spaces, working safely at heights and Introduction to Naval Shipbuilding, which was developed by TAFE SA, in partnership with the NSC.
Applications for cohort two are now open, with training running from August 15-26 in WA.
To apply, join the NSC’s Workforce Register and select ‘Trade Assistant Program’ in the ‘how did you hear about us’ section: https://wfr.navalshipbuildingcollege.com.au/candidate/expo/register
